Delta Adds Boston–Reykjavík Flights for 2027: Dates and Iceland Trip Planner
Boston is getting a new nonstop connection to Iceland in 2027. Delta says it plans daily flights from Boston Logan (BOS) to Keflavík (KEF), serving the Reykjavík area from April 12 through October 30, 2027 . For travelers planning a spring, summer or autumn trip, the bigger question is what kind of Iceland itinerary to build around that flight: a city break, a Golden Circle excursion or several nights on the South Coast.
OptionTrip reporting · October 26, 2026. Flight dates come from the airline’s published announcement; service, fares, accommodation availability and local access must be checked again before payment.
What Delta actually announced
Delta’s updated October 16, 2026 announcement sets out a daily Boston–Keflavík nonstop starting April 12, 2027 and scheduled through October 30. The same update describes an expansion of transatlantic routes, including seasonal new service from Detroit to Athens beginning June 8, 2027 and a new Austin–Paris link scheduled from March 27, 2027. These are different routes; do not confuse them with flights that already operate year-round.
Delta has announced a schedule, not guaranteed ticket prices or seats. Search for your exact dates, check what luggage is included and compare nonstop convenience with connecting itineraries. If you plan to visit other European destinations, check that your connection and entry requirements fit your own travel documents.
KEF is not downtown Reykjavík
The international airport code KEF refers to Keflavík, about 50 km (31 miles) from Reykjavík, according to Icelandair’s airport guidance . Reykjavík’s domestic airport is a different location, code RKV . Do not book a transfer or onward domestic flight without checking which airport is involved.
Before confirming a hotel, compare the cost of an airport bus, shuttle or rental car with the price of arriving at your room. A cheaper hotel outside the city can be less attractive once transfers and parking are added.
Where should you stay? Choose your Iceland trip style
Visit Iceland describes the Golden Circle as a roughly 250 km loop that can be explored in one or more days. Its South Coast guide explains why a multi-day itinerary is often more comfortable for travelers seeking waterfalls, glaciers and coastal scenery. These are itinerary choices, not an indication that any particular hotel is available.
How many nights should you allow?
Two or three nights
Concentrate on Reykjavík and one well-chosen sightseeing day. Avoid a rushed drive around the entire island; your arrival and departure windows consume time, and weather can change plans.
Four or five nights
Consider adding a Golden Circle day and a separate South Coast day or overnight. Compare the total costs of a guided tour with self-driving, including fuel, parking, insurance and cancellation terms.
A week or longer
Plan several regions only after reviewing driving distances and seasonal access. Iceland’s Ring Road is lengthy, and conditions can change suddenly. Visit Iceland’s driving guide recommends checking actual road and weather conditions daily and respecting closures. The idea of visiting many sites should never override safety or the pace of the trip.
Should you book flights or accommodation first?
Start with the dates on which the airline actually sells flights. Next compare refundable accommodation alternatives. For a self-drive itinerary, check rental-car availability, the pickup point at KEF and the requirements for the type of road you intend to use. Do not assume a standard rental car is suitable for all highland routes.
If flight schedules are still changing, keep nonrefundable purchases to a minimum. Confirm your passport, entry eligibility and any special trip-document requirements directly with official authorities rather than relying on generic checklists.
